New Cuban Tobacco Product on International Market

Havana, Jul 12 (Prensa Latina) To emphasize the quality of the Cuban tobacco and satisfy smokers of the world, sector authorities introduced today the new H. Upman Half Crown cigar in a metal container with five cigars inside.

This innovation, according to a statement issued by the company, will soon be available in more than 125 countries that sell tobacco from the Habanos SA International Corporation.

The Half Crown has been available in a box of 25 since 2011, enjoying great success among smokers around the world. The metal containers are new for the brand, one of the most coveted, especially in Europe and the UK.

Herman Upmann was a German banker whose love for Cuban tobacco led him to settle in Havana in 1840. He founded a bank and a cigar factory in 1844. The bank closed, but his brand of cigars persists to this day, considered one of the finest cigars on the market, with mild to medium strength in taste.

Company spokesmen explain that the blend for the brand is made with leaves from the Vuelta Abajo, in the western Cuban province of Pinar del Rio.
